摘要

Continuing rapid developments in optical fiber tecbnology,electronics and information processing provide the technical and economic basis for broadband services and networks.The Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)technologies have been.developed to meet the challenge of providing integrated support of a diverse range of existing and possible future broadband services.The transition from Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) te one Broadband-Integrated Service Data Network (B-ISDN) bas been an irresistible developmental trend.This paper puts forwards a new plan to implement MAN with ATM and SDH technologies.This plan frees from the traditional idea nf DQDB (Distributed qneue Dual Bus ) MAN,and easily realizes the interconnection between MAN and B-ISDN.
