A series long-term studies have been conducted as long as eight years, on the marine corrosion resistancernof a group of offshore steels, ZCE36-Z35, a Z-direction lamellar- tearing resistance steel, WFG-E40, arnhigh strength steel, NVD40S and an A537-1(Z) grade steel. electrochemical test in natural seawater,rnweight loss tests with and without electrically connecting, corrosion rate test in an accelerating wheel,rnpitting tests, as well as corrosion fatigue test are carried out to compare the corrosion resistance tornseawater. It is shown that the new kind of steel, ZCE36-Z35, demonstrates excellent corrosionrnresistance against general and local corrosion, and stands with A537-1(Z) made in Japan. In terms ofrncrack growth rate of corrosion fatigue the new steel is more resistant than A537-1(Z).
