摘要

This research paper presents an unconventional control for the operation of a STATCOM coupled at the interconnection point of the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait in the GCC Interconnection. The primary objective of this research work is to investigate transmission power system network operational control challenges and convincing impact of employing a STATCOM, with an unconventional control algorithm to address existing reactive power management issue, which is ensuring technology-based solution to the operational challenges/pitfalls of the interconnection between the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait in the Gulf cooperative council power grid. This study results indicate that the STATCOM is a strong candidate to improve power transmission system network operations in the GCC Power grid with high degree of precision.
