A Comparative Study on the Cathodic Protection Efficiency of the Buried Gas Plpes

This paper aims to compare the corrosion damages and to evaluate the accelerating factors and cathodic protection efficiency on buried gas pipes situated on a few streets In Cluj-Napoca. This analysis is based on corrosion damages registration before and after calhodic protection application. The electrochemical parameters were determined and correlated with damages occurrence. The number of corrosion damages has steeply decreased on all the streets after applying calhodic protection, in 1997, especially for the street near the tram and railways, which demonstrates the efficiency of such an anticorrosive system.
