'iAvion' Index as new metric to measure the preparedness degree of Air Transport Sector of Networked world

The new challenges of Air Transport Sustainability (ATS) depend on the Airlinesrnadoption of AICT (Aeronautical Information and Communication Technology). In fact,rna new “AeroTelecom” sector is emerging, by the convergence of Aeronautical andrnTelecom sectors; each of them has its own regulation, authority and industry standardsrnand until now, there is certainly a lack of cooperation on services for Pax, Cockpit andrnCrew, according to the author (see reference [1], [2] and [5]). The focus of this paper isrnto define a metric, through a new synthetic aeronautical index (called iAvion Index),rnthat would take into account the use and enabling factors (general and specific) ofrnairlines connectivity. Therefore allowing a new world airlines characterization (iAvionrnIndex ranking), that will support the establishment of an iAvion platform (orrnObservatory) to measure and share the Information Society adoption and trends ofrnworld in world airlines, see ref. [4]. Future research still will have to probe the couplingrnof iAvion Index growing vs. i.e. less environmental impact, higher economicrndevelopment of aeronautical agents or better social benefits. The reference methodologyrnfor this iAvion index is the equivalent analysis of Information Society index inrncountries, as correlation of CAPEX and OPEX (i.e. ICT expenditures) vs. GDPrngrowing, higher productivity.
