Photo-Colorization of Single Substrate Flexible ChLC Display

摘要

This paper proposes a new photo-colorization method. By adding photo-sensitive material to cholesteric liquid-crystal layer, single substrate flexible ChLCD becomes sensitive to UV light. Therefore, UV exposure can cause the discontinuous change in the helical pitch of the ChLC pixels, locally change the reflective wavelength, and correspondingly colorize the ChLC Display. In this paper, area-color and multi-color ChLC displays are both introduced and implemented.
