High-resolution Hα observations of a solar region containing several mottles were obtained with the Multichannel Subtractive Double Pass (MSDP) spectrograph installed at the focus of THEMIS in Tenerife (Canary islands). Application of the cloud model to measurements of the Ha contrast profiles enabled us to derive numerical values for several physical parameters. A detailed analysis of the temporal and spatial variation of these parameters was performed. The variation of the line-of-sight velocity showing upflows at the tops and downflows at the footpoints of the structures provides an indication that the mechanism that drives the flow along them is magnetic reconnection. The derived parameters in combination with information concerning their number on the solar surface permitted us to make estimates for the mass flux curried upwards the solar atmosphere. Moreover, a rough estimate of the magnetic energy dissipated at the reconnection region provided us with an estimate of the energy content available for the heating of the solar atmosphere.
