Studies(Frohlich,2006;Green,2007)confirm that deep earthquakes(focal depth greater than60-70km)can only occur within relatively cold subducting slabs and thus the characteristics of widely distributed deep earthquakes within the subducting northwestern Pacific plate(NPP)could record the historical and dynamic information of subduction lithosphere there.Meanwhile, the mechanism of deep earthquakes, such as deep focus earthquakes(focal depth greater than300km)mechanism are requiring an extremely dry condition, can help us understanding water content in the transition zone and so on.
