Separation of aluminum melts from Inter-metallic compounds containing iron and silicon in electromgnetic field

摘要

Theoretical analysis and experiments,the different conductivity between impurities containing iron and silicon,and molten aluminum had been used to separate them from molten aluminum by electromagnetic field.The electromagnetic field induced by self-designed equipment had been measured and analyzed.After adding manganese metal into molten aluminum,inter-metallic compound particles became lumpish and angular with crystal facets from needle and dendritic.And the prepared alloys were purified by electromagnetic field under different experimental conditions.It was found that the distribution of transferred impurities changed with the change of magnetic flux density.The addition of manganese metal enhanced the migratory efficiency of impurity particles significantly.
