PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an α-zirconium phosphate crystal type heavy metal ion adsorbent overcoming the defect of α-zirconium phosphate crystals, having a porosity and material configuration suitable for the separation operation of heavy metal ions and repeatedly usable by regeneration.;SOLUTION: The heavy metal ion adsorbent is constituted by supporting α-zirconium phosphate crystals on a porous material. This heavy metal ion adsorbent is obtained by impregnating the porous material with a soluble zirconium compound and adding a phosphoric aqueous solution to the impregnated prous material and subsequently applying hydrothermal treatment to the whole to preceptitate and support α-zirconium phosphorous crystals on the porous material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
