Application of polyethylene in reconstruction otologic surgery ‐ foil and porous polyethylene

AbstractLow density polyethylene was prepared in the form of foil and porous plate and used as an implant material for otolaryngology. After clinical testing the foil was introduced into reconstruction surgery of middle ear. The porous polyethylene is undergoing the clinical testing. It also shows a promising application in reconstruction maxillofacial surgery. In the course of testing of polyethylene implants no reaction to the implanted foil was observed for any patient.
