New developments in the analysis of the substitution pattern of polysaccharide derivatives

AbstractThe analysis of the primary structure of polysaccharide derivatives has to consider different structural levels. In the field of the monomer analysis anion exchange chromatography enables the investigation of some anionic derivatives and methyl ethers. Two analytical strategies for the analysis of the substituent distribution along the polymer chain are outlined, and the results from model studies on methyl amyloses prepared under homogeneous and heterogeneous conditions are discussed.
