I am writing to respond to the inaccuracy of a review of my book Motives for Metaphor in Scientific and Technical Communication published in issue 39:3 of the JTWC. The reviewer asserts that "A study of technical communication textbooks provides the key support for Giles' claim that we are not teaching metaphors; however, he does not clearly identify the textbooks" (p. 335). To the contrary, these textbooks are specified in the sections straightforwardly titled "Technical Communication Textbooks" and "Science Writing Texts," which appear on pages 16-22, and are listed in the table of contents. In these sections, seventeen books are noted, with examples from most of them, and cited with APA documentation in the text and in the bibliography.
