中国特色应用技术大学是为适应我国新时期经济社会发展需要而产生的，与其他普通本科高校并行和等值，以科学知识和技术成果的应用为导向进行办学，为社会培养高层次技术技能人才的高等学校。与欧洲各国及其他国家和地区将职业性学校合并升格为应用技术大学不同，我国应用技术大学建设主要是通过地方普通本科高校的转型发展进行的。地方本科高校、政府和教育主管部门以及社会各界共同努力，经济社会平稳发展，中国特色应用技术大学建设才能顺利进行。%In order to meet the need of China’s economic and social development in the new period, the universities of applied science with Chinese characteristics which is in parallel with other common undergraduate universities is guided by the orientation of scientific knowledge and the application of the technology to cultivate high-level technical skills talents for the society. Being different from other countries’ methods in Europe, universities of applied science in China is mostly constructed through transformation of the local undergraduate universities, while European countries develop universities of applied science through vocational colleges merger. With the joint efforts of local undergraduate universities, governments, education administration departments and all sectors of society, the construction of universities of applied science with Chinese characteristics would go with a swing.
