Dietary Influence of Musa Sapientum PeelsSupplemented with Morus Alba Leaveson Nutrient intake and Milk Compositionof LactatingWest African Dwarf Goats

Twenty (20)West African Dwarf (WAD) does in their second week of lactation,21/2-3years old and an average live-weight of 16.00±0.51 kg were randomly selected from the goats unit's flock and used to evaluate the dietary influence of Musa sapientum peels supplemented with Morus alba leaves on nutrient intake and milk composition.Five experimental diets were formulated such that Musa spietum peels were replaced with Morus alba leaves at ratio 0,25,50,75 and 100％and fed to four(4)goats per treatment for a period of 84days.Results showed that dry matter (78.16-86.37％),crude protein (8.02-13.81％) and nitrogen free extract(46.17-64.47％)contents increased with increased inclusion of Morus alba in the diets.The dry matter intake ranged from 364.05 to 459.24g/day,protein intake increased with the increased inclusion of Morus alba in the diets.The total solid (162.90g/kg),lactose 86.80g/kg)and solid non-fat (132.80g/kg) in the milk of does fed diet C were higher compared to other does.The improved crude protein,nitrogen free extract and gross energy content suggest that Musa sapietum supplemented Morus albacan be used as a valuable source of protein and energy supplement for goats production during dry season to reduce cost of production.However,does fed 50％Musa sapietum and 50％Morus alba produced the best quality milk in terms of total solid (162.90g/kg),lactose (86.80g/kg) and solid non-fat (132.80g/kg) in their milk.
