END FLUE AND THROUGH WALL REPAIR EXTENSION OF SERVICE LIFE AND REDUCTION OF EMISSIONS

Aging coke batteries in North America can extend their useful life to the maximum allowed by the Clean Air Act by undergoing a cost-effective major rehabilitation program. The program includes the through wall or end flue repair using modern coke oven repair technology. By careful attention to planning and scheduling, the impact on coke production from the battery can be minimized by instituting a "rolling" repair method. Other major aspects of the rehabilitation such as heating considerations, expansion and provisions to control the refractory stability during the repair are also addressed.
