摘要

In the present work is encapsulated in sol-gel silica, E.coli which has been genetically modified. This bacterium without modification has been extensively studied into sol-gel silica. Nevertheless, this work shows the results of the synthesis parameters research to maintain the modified . microorganism alive. The encapsulation of E.coli transformed with the gene that encode to the Kainate binding protein (KBP) is shown. In this case the genetically modified microorganism is added during the gelation step producing a high interaction between the hydroxyl groups and the bacterium. The substrate sol-gel protects cells of their denaturalization and the expression of the donated gene. Those live sol-gel materials then are used as catalysts to decontamination of waste water.
