Due to the enhancement of wireless communication bandwidth, reliability and services offered by WWW, the high-end mobile applications are becoming reality. However, the operating systems supporting mobile devices and the stationary servers are not completely capable to handle the challenges of mobile computing paradigm. The battery-powered mobile devices are constrained in computational resources. The novel concept of mobile distributed virtual memory (MDVM) extends the server CPU and memory resources to the mobile clients over the mobile communication interface in order to support resource-demanding high-end mobile applications. This paper describes the design architecture of various components of MDVM system.
