The paper presents the concept of an automatic optical filter designed to protect against infrared radiation. The concept of this filter is based on two main optical elements, known as an active blocking element and a passive blocking element. The design of the filter combines these two elements. The active blocking element enables one to control the amount of visible light passing through it. The purpose of the passive blocking element is to block radiation from infrared radiation while maintaining the highest possible degree of transmission for visible radiation. The filter model developed in accordance with the proposed concept has been described. The research carried out for the model produced included transmission tests of the optical radiation, in the context of meeting the normative requirements for optical filters in terms of protection against infrared radiation.
