Currently, luminaires optics are designed using simulation applications. These applications have models of light sources, which have a significant impact on calculations results accuracy. Adaptation of a model of a light source to an optical system of analysis, or proposition of a new model could have a meaningful impact. The article describes the author's innovative model of a light source to be used in calculations of asymmetric specular trough-shaped reflector ensuring uniform surface illumination of an object. Results show more accuracy in relation to commercial calculation tool and much shorter calculation time. It speeds up and simplifies significantly design process based on simulation calculations.
